Building a blogging platform is incredibly easy thanks to WordPress 3.0's Multi-Site feature. I'm using this feature to power my corporate podcasting platform (work in progress).
I wanted to be able to offer my clients a bunch of unique themes to choose from, but wasn't happy with any of the "free" themes available in the WordPress Theme Directory. After digging around I stumbled on Elegant Themes, a subscription based model for 55+ amazing looking WordPress themes.
For $39 a year, y...

Apparently Google doesn't like the idea of people learning how to drive traffic to their website WITHOUT Google. Usually Google will display"Did you mean:" when you misspell something - but in this instance, if you search Google for "Drive Traffic Without Google" - they suggest Drive Traffic WITH Google.
Now that Google has suspended my AdWords account, I'm on a mission to learn how to generate traffic without the mighty Goog. I've never liked having all my eggs in one basket and will sh...

LESS is a technique that makes CSS insanely more powerful, using Variables, Mixins, Operations and Nested Rules. It does this by incorporating a little server side code and is available for virtually all popular development platforms.
If you're looking for a new product to generate a little money on the side, this type of service would be incredibly valuable to web designers who don't want to mess with server side code, and are looking for a way to off load their CSS on to a CDN.
Example:...

YQL (Yahoo Query Language) is one of my favorite tools for grabbing content from other websites. It's completely free, scalable and opens up a whole new world of data. In this quick tutorial I'll show you how to grab the latest plugins submitted to WordPress.org's Plugin Directory and return the results as a clean XML document.
Step 1. Find a website you want to pull data from.
YQL "select from HTML" will grab content from any site that (doesn't block Robots), and returns the page as a valid ...

MailChimp Integration With My Mobi Manger – Our Application Process. By Nicki Laycoax.
On November 18, 2010, MailChimp announced that they were launching a $1M Integration Fund to assist developers interested in integrating their software product with MailChimp’s email newsletter system. Since we have been a fan of MailChimp for a while, and there are so many MailChimp users around Indy, we were interested. We had already integrated at that point with ConstantContact, so the additio...

Part 2 of "Selling online" consists of getting your products listed so people can buy your goodies. If you missed Step 1 I suggest you read "How the hell do I find products to sell online" first.
Most people don't think about the amount of time and money required to move from one eCommerce platform to another — but I assure you IT'S HUGE. So really look at the options and choose carefully. Which eCommerce Platform you pick to power your online business is a big decision; hopefully t...

In the last post, we looked at using Hubspot to analyze our website's pages, inbound links, and keyword opportunities. In this post, we'll see how Hubspot provides us with a wealth of information about people once they've gotten to our site.
Prospecting
In my opinion, this is one of the most valuable pieces of Hubspot. Prospecting involves seeing who is coming to your site, how they got there, and what they did when they were there. Hubspot achieves this with a javascript tracking code tha...

First part of a series covering how to understand your websites impact, by guest blogger Caleb Tennis of Data Cave.
As part of our marketing plans for 2011 at Data Cave, we wanted to develop a better understanding of our online presence and its impact in the market. Like many businesses, we have a website with details about our business - and we also have a blog with haphazard posts about various topics in our industry. Aside from google analytics, we didn't have much insight into how ...
