The future of personal biometric tracking is closer than you think (and that’s exciting!)

If you know me at all, you know I’m a sucker for tracking personal information, visualizing that data and rolling that back into behavioral changes. To date, that’s been limited to apps/services like Nike+, Garmin, FitBit, Daytum, etc. so you can imagine how excited I’d be to see that the hardware necessary to track more detailed data (biometric state, including heart rate, brain waves, accelerated velocity, body temperature, and respiration) is coming down in price. Honestly, if you’re into this stuff, $331 is getting close to the “reasonable” zone, assuming you also get a pleasant way to visualize/digest all that data.

ps: on the data tracking tip, I’m a little more than halfway through my first month with the FitBit and I plan to write up a quick review on everydayUX once I’ve got a month worth of data in there. Stay tuned!
